Enjoying Northrend…

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been enjoying Northrend.  I’ve been taking it slow, doing all the quests in a zone before moving on.  However, I am really missing the ability to use the flying mounts.  I’m tempted to speed lvl to 77, for that reason alone.  But, for now I’m just enjoying the ride.

You see, this is a departure for me.  When I started playing WoW, I had no idea what I was doing.  Within my first few days of playing, I decided to be very anti-social.  My very first Instance was a disaster.  I turned off General Chat almost immediately, and don’t get me started about the idiocy that happens on /trade.  Simply to say, I met the not-so-nice people and decided to solo-level.  Oh, and the lvl cap was 60 at that time.

I did make a couple of friends on the way, though.  Some really nice people, that have gone on to bigger and better things.  One of them saw that I was solo-questing, and told me about the leveling guides at WoW-Pro.  I used the Alliance Guide to level my Zwingli, almost exclusively.

Almost, that is.

You see at the same time, I wanted to level my professions as well.  So, I took massive breaks from questing to level my fishing, my cooking, my first aide, and my Leatherworking/Skinning.  Oh, and I can’t forget the Wintersaber Grind.  That was when it took forever!

I didn’t even try an Instance until Burning Crusade came out, and I even had to be talked into that.  I was perfectly happy, living in my own little world, with my 3-4 person friends list, talking through the /w.

All that is to say, I didn’t enjoy the story of WoW.  I missed a lot of the early content by following the leveling guide.  Look, if you are a raider; and all you want is to level quickly so that you can raid…then, this guide is for you.  But, if you’re a casual player that enjoys stories…the guide isn’t for you.

I have purposely decided to not use any guides in my leveling at this point.  I want to enjoy the story of Northrend.  I won’t be after the Phat Lootz, because I know that will come with time.  But for now, the narrative is whats important.

I also hope to being blogging again on a regular basis.

Until Next Time,

Zwingli
