This is my attempt at day 4 of 20 Days of WoW Blogging!

Day 04 – Your best WoW memory…

I’ve had so many good experiences, it is hard to narrow down to just one.

Was it when I hit level 60 in vanilla WoW? Was it when I got to be a part of my first serious raid that wasn’t a ROFLSTOMP? Was it the totally random heroic that netted me my very first hunter specific purple, or maybe when I randomly came upon my first Spirit Beast?

While each of these would suffice, I have to look back a little farther. I think I may have written about it before. I’ll have to search the archives to make sure.

You see, early on I was on my own personal quest. As a newb WoW player, I knew nothing about reputations and grinds.

But, I did know one thing.

There was a mount, a beautiful beast of claw and fang. A Night Elf Priestess road into Iron Forge upon this magnificent beast. I was stunned by the sheer awesomeness of it’s stature. When I asked, I was told that it was a Wintersaber Mount, found in a land of ice and snow called “Winterspring.”

As you can imagine, that day began the personal quest of obtaining the coveted mount. Needless to say, I didn’t know that it was one of the worse rep grinds known in the world (of warcraft).

The day I finished that grind was the best day of my limited WoW career. Riding into Iron Forge was a glorious moment, rivaling that of ancient Roman Emperors leading their captives in their victory parade.

The icing on the cake was when a low level character PMed me, asking where they could find such a beautiful mount.

By my pen,

Zwingli Whisperwind

P.s. I wrote this on the wordpress app for iPad. My advice is to not do it, but stick to your regular computer.

Yes, yes. I’m doing that whole 20(is) Days of WoW Blogging. What can I say. I’m a sucker for peer pressure.  If Hello Hoofies and our Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman Healadin can do it, then so can I!

Here is Day 3 – My first day of playing WoW.

I remember it just like yesterday. All in a fog, kind of hazy, having gone without any sleep kind of way.

I went out and bought Vanilla WoW the day after Southpark did their spoof of it. I thought it was hilarious!

I remember logging in, and being disappointed that there was no Ranger Character under the human icon. So, I chose a Paladin.

That guy didn’t make it to level 5. I don’t know why, but I just didn’t feel the connection.

Next, I made a warrior. This guy made it to level 10 or so. I remember making it to the old Sentinel Hill in Westfall. But, I kept getting killed by birds and gnolls. Plus, I just didn’t feel the connection to the character that I wanted so, I went to bed and decided to look up character classes the next day.

Within the next 12 hours, I had a Night Elf hunter, named Zwingli. He was so much fun! I didn’t think that this character would actually stick. I took no care to change the original toon’s facial features, hair, etc. Instead, I thought I would only play him for a day or so and then make my “real character.”

Next think I know, he was level 20, and I had made some in-game friends. Before I knew it, my temporary character had become my main.

Even though I loved huntering, I most aptly could be considered an accidental hunter. I made level 60 before Burning Crusade came out, almost exclusively by questing. I played him like an old DnD Ranger; really not knowing what I was doing. But, I loved every minute of it. I love having the pets. I love the synergy found in the class.

You can find my First Zwingli, now named Trellis, collecting dust on Moon Guard.

Here is the second question for the 20(ish) Days of WoW Blogging.

Why did you decide to blog?

That is a good question.

I actually have a personal blog, where I write about personal and vocational things. So the idea of blogging wasn’t new to me.

For some reason though, I never thought that there would be WoW blogs.

Boy, was I wrong! I remember desiring to learn a bit more about huntardering, so I decided to google it. One of the very first blogs I ran into was “Big Red Kitty,” which has now been retired. It was a treasure trove of huntering knowledge! That was one of the very first blogs I ever had on a Reader/RSS feed. I followed one of his links to “Aspect of the Hare (also retired),” which I also immediately fell in love with. Eventually, he lead me to such gems as “Big Bear Butt Blogger,” and “Need More Rage.”

But really, BRK was just a true inspiration to me. I actually felt sad when he said he was going to stop posting. It really felt like a WoW void was opening up. A lot of people started going to AotH, but I’m not sure she ever felt comfortable taking BRK’s place in WoW Bloggerdom. Please be aware, she never wanted, nor tried to fill his shoes. She was just the next best hunter blog out there (imo).

I knew I would never reach the stature of BRK, but I also noticed that there was plenty of room out there for another WoW blog. I thought that the best way to honor such a great WoW blogger, would be to let his inspiration lead me into WoW blogging as well.

So, I decided to start my own WoW blog. It was to be more of a general blog, maybe leaning towards RP type stories. You see, I have a little bit of a desire to write fantasy; but not obsessively so.

I first started writing fantasy on a NeverWinterNights private server forums. I played on an RP/Krynn based server. Everything had to be in RP, and I mean everything. I dabbled in a little writing, based upon my server character, and got some really good feed back. This initial positive response has always been in the back of my mind. This has helped to define how I desire to write for this blog.

Sure, there are other influences. But, these are the most influential that I can think of.

Oh, my NeverWinterNights character was a Ranger.

Could you not have guessed that!?  /SQUEEEEEE!!!!!
