Had It All Along, Baby!

I’ve heard of people trying to get this achievement: We Had It All Along *cough*.

All I can say is, it has to be nerve wracking!

Here is one Gnome’s view:  Arathi Basin Resilient Victory (I’d love to say) the easy way

We weren’t trying for the achievement. And, I have to admit that I hope it is never that close again!  But, it is nice to have…

Here are a couple of pics.

I realized a little late that I wanted a screen pic of it:

We Got It All Along *Cough* at end of battle...

Here is what my armory looks like:

We Had It All Along *cough*

I’ve come to a realization though.

I think that I’m used best as a node/flag defender.

Shadowmeld Defender!

Shadowmeld is an awesome racial ability in this case!

You also get a buff!

Who Knew?!

I tend to shadowmeld within shot of the flag, but with a view of the routes in and out of the area. I especially like the hunter’s ability to track humanoids and beasts.

I used to try to hide my pet, but not anymore. First off, he can’t prowl yet.  Perhaps I’ll change this once he gets the ability. Instead, I set my him near the flag.  I hope that this allows for a couple of things.

First, it gives the rogues/feral druids pause before trying to ninja the flag. Secondly, it gives other red team members pause before running in. Finally, it allows my pet to have very little ground to cover when attacking the flag ninja.  He Attacks, I pop Kill Command, and then Intimidation just to hack the stealther off.

If I hold off on incoming baddies, I can usually nuke the healer down before they realize where I am.

:)

So, I’m still PvPing, and enjoying it!  I just wish Alliance would win more often.

Any ideas of the best use of a Hunter in a BG?

it sucks...

Please be in prayer for my mother.

She’s dealing with a very bad bout of depression.

It appears that she hasn’t eaten much within the last three weeks or so.  This has happened before (right after my dad died), and it almost killed her.

She’s been recently moved to my sister’s house, so that she isn’t alone. This was part of what brought her back from the brink so many years ago.  It’s been about 4 years since the last bout, but I’m not sure that it is something that ever really goes away.

I’m not willing to go through my regular channels (my RL Facebook and Twitter), because I’m hoping that she can rest w/out extended family members bugging her.

So, I’m bringing it to you. My some what anonymous, wildly diverse, WoW community.

I’m worried about her, and I needed to tell someone in the interwebz.

Thanks for being there.

Z

p.s I live 4 hours from her, my sister lives one hour from her. I have a brother that lives in another state, about 1.5 days drive away.  We’re bad about keeping in touch, and that is part of the reason something like this can go on without us realizing it.

Well that, and our mother is fiercely independent. When you are used to relying upon someone; you tend not to think of them ever needing you.

Or, maybe that is just me.

A Dragon’s (K)night

This is one of my posts for The Big Bear Butt Blogger’s Writing Challenge.

Flying high above Azeroth, he was feeling hungry.

It was a cloudy night. Not a single star in the sky.

He wasn’t afraid of being seen though. He black, the deepest of black, and his scales hardly reflected light at all. He was effectively hidden from view, flying upon silent wings.

He was hungry…and he spied a juicy morsel down below.

Spiraling…

Spiraling…

Slowly spiraling down toward the unsuspecting knight.

Really, what was he doing down there anyway?

Deep in the Dustwallow Marsh, coming entirely to close to Wyrmbog.

He wants to be eater. Surely, he’s here because of a death wish!

Well, he couldn’t let the poor thing wish in vain

The great wyrm stretched his slender neck. Grinning a wide malicious grin, licking his razor sharp teeth. He could almost feel the crunch of the platemail, taste the salty metalic tang of the human’s blood.

Almost. There.

For a split second, it was almost like a shaft of moonlight split through the clouds illuminating the knight.

The last thing he saw was the maw of the dragon coming down upon him. Right before everything blew up around him, like goblin rocket fuel put to torch.

Just a boy, his guitar, an iPad, and no freakin’ clue as to what he’s doing!

This is my attempt at The Big Bear Butt’s Writing Challenge. You can find them listed in the comments here.

We were supposed to write something with the words:

Juicy, Slender, Vain, Shaft, Torch, Star and Hidden.

I was  never good at following directions…

A Dragon’s Night

~ Lyrics

Lady Katrana Prestor
Lady has Claws...

It’s a Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
A Night Filled with Fear

It’s a Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
Pray he don’t appear

A Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
Your search is not in Vain

A Dragon’s Night
Loose your heart night
A night filled with pain

You Had your Juicy dinner
In the lovely evening
Not a Star to be found

He spoke loving words
into your Hidden heart
But now you see the Slender dagger there

Because it’s a
It’s a Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
A Night Filled with Fear

It’s a Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
Pray he don’t appear

A Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
Your search is not in Vain

A Dragon’s Night
Loose your heart night
A night filled with pain

There’s a Shaft of moon light on your face
It’s like a Torch of hope in that space

Yes it’s still a
It’s a Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
A Night Filled with Fear

It’s a Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
Pray he don’t appear

A Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
Your search is not in Vain

A Dragon’s Night
Loose your heart night
A night filled with pain

You think you’re loosing him
But you don’t know
He’s really loosing you
Your heart’s glow

What he doesn’t know
Is his desperate need
Of you in his life,
How he won’t be complete

It’s a Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
A Night Of His Worse Fears

It’s a Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
He Shouldn’t have Appeared

A Dragon’s Night
A Dark Night
His Life lived in Vain

A Dragon’s Night
Loose your heart night
A Night of His Own Pain

From rawr to VROOM, Khesed 2.0

Well, I started a PvP oriented toon named Khesed on an Rp/PvP server.

I wanted that whole “new car smell” feeling about the character. Start from scratch! Learn things from the ground floor up.

Remember him:

Smug in his crafted white gear...

Well, the short of it is…

I GOT PWNED in Arathi Basin!

10th Time to Die

At level 10, I was every rogues favorite pin cushion, every hunters favorite target, every warriors punching bag.

Did I mentioned that I TOTALLY GOT PWNED in Arathi Basin?

I played him this way until level 15.

I spent time raising gold to buy gear and enchants.

Nelf's Gotta Do, what a Nelf's Gotta Do!

HOLYWTCRAPBATMAN, why are the AH prices on this freakin’ server so HIGH!

Well that, and it turns out I’m an AH nOObkins.

After some consultation with a few PvP Gawds. I decided to reroll the character on a server with one of my mains. A server where I have a crapton of heirloom gear.

So, the new and improved Khesed is here:

Pimped Out Khesed

Clicking on the pic should take you to the armory profile.

I’ve still got some things to work on. But, the heirlooms should last me through level 60 or so.

Thanks to Cynwise and Gnomeaggedon for helping me out.

This is is me…

Checking the mail in anticipation!

This is me…

Realizing that I had put the Copper Ore up for 10 SILVER per stack!

Makes a guy wanna go, “DOH!”

Level 10, Hear My RAWR!

/flex

Khesed has made it to level 10. Upon gaining the level, he immediately went fishing!

I know, not very pvp oriented. But, it was something to do.

I chose the Beastmaster option, because it is OBVIOUSLY THE BEST HUNTER SPEC!

Sure people might disagree; but they’re wrong. You can go Marks and be a Mail Wearing Mage. But then again, you might as well reroll a clothie.

You can go SV (to be honest I do have a soft spot for them) and try to be some sort of Melee Hunter. But, please don’t. You just give the rest of us a bad name.

Ok, in ALL HONESTY, any spec is a good spec. I choose BM because I enjoy it.

Remember that concept? Enjoyment…

Yeah, I know. I’m a rebel. >.>

Eventually he made it to the Hunter Trainer.

I thought I would go over the “tools” that a level 10 Beastmaster Hunter has.

Starting from the top “F1-11″ keys, the abilities are:

F2. Raptor strike – Instant cast, 5 yd  range.

An attack that instantly deals your normal weapon damage plus X.

F3. Kill Command – Instant cast, 100 yd  range, 40 Focus.

Give the command to kill, causing your pet to instantly inflict X damage to its target.

F4. Intimidation – Instant cast, 100 yd  range.

Command your pet to intimidate the target, causing a high amount of threat and stunning the target for 3 sec. Lasts 15 sec.

F6. Shadowmeld (Nelf Racial) – Instant cast.

Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect.

Below those are my action bar. I have slots 2-6 filled.:

2. Auto Shot- 0.5 sec cast, 5-40 yd range.

Automatically shoots the target until canceled.

3. Serpent Sting - Instant cast, 5 – 40 yd.  range, 25 Focus.

Causes (RAP * 0.4 + (X * 15 sec / 3)) Nature damage over 15 sec.

4. Arcane Shotan instant shot that causes 15% of your RAP + X arcane damage.

5. Concussive Shot- instant cast, 40 yd  range,Requires Ranged Weapon

Dazes the target, slowing movement speed by 50% for 6 sec.

6. Steady Shot – 1.5 sec cast, 40 yd  range.

A steady shot that causes weapon damage plus [RAP * 0.1 + 251]. Generates 9 Focus.

Some of these are straight DPS abilities, and others have more utility.

One even has a dual use.

Ok, so let me break these down in my newbie manner.

Raptor Strike (RS), Arcane Shot (AS), and Kill Command (KC) are pretty much straight DPS abilities. Kill Command gives you the most bite (c wat i did thar?), and Arcane Shot gives you the most bang for your buck. Hit KC whenever it is off cool down, and spam AS. Knock those little mages on their tushies! Oh, and if you’re close enough to use RS; you’ve done something wrong.

Serpent Sting (SS) is a Damage Over Time (DoT) spell. While this gives some DPS, one of the great things about is how it keeps Rogues/Cat Druids from Stealthing, and it forces a Cleanse from Paladins (which annoys them in an ever so wonderful manner).

Now, our Crowd Control (cc) comes in a couple of forms. Granted, I (in my noobishness) would throw SS into this because it basically puts a control mechanism on stealthies. But, I don’t know if “real pvpers” would say that.

Along the lines of  (dare I say pure?) cc, we have Concussive Shot (CS) and Intimidation. CS is pretty explanatory. It slows the target down. It’s an instant attack with no focus. Shoot it every time you think a target doesn’t have one. It allows us to Kite (run and shoot melee targets simultaneously, staying a safe distance) when we need to; and it slows Enemy Flag Carriers (EFCs) in Battle Grounds such as Warsong Gulch. We can use it to help our own Flag Carriers (FC) by slowing down enemy players trying to intercept them.

While our Intimidation is a PvE taunt; that doesn’t help in pvp. Instead, we love the 3 second stun. Interrupt a caster, make the warrior sweat it out as you nuke him down, give your pet an extra 3 seconds to rip the rogue an extra hole that he so desperately needs.

You can uses all of these abilities (and Auto Shot) while moving; so there isn’t much of a reason to stand around if you don’t have to. The only ability that requires you to be stationary right now is Steady Shot. While it does help us gain back focus, it isn’t that much of a help. Things move really fast in pvp, and I’ve heard it said that “burst damage” is king. If we are out of focus, unable to get an AS off; then the best thing to do is to CS (or Intimidation if it is off cool down) your target and get away… or look forward to waking up in the graveyard.

Now Go! Show them your Hunter-Awesomeness. Let them feel the wrath of your Kitteh and Bow/Gun/Crossbow/Whatever.

I think I’ll try to cover some pet options next time.

Khesed, the Anti-Ninja!

In your BGs, Frustrating your Ninjas!

Meet Khesed (@ level 6).

He is my new PvP oriented toon.

I’ve been following Cynwise for a while now. Add GnomeafruttinGnomeatootin’Gnomeaggedon into the mix and I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy regarding PvP.

I’ve dabbled in it every now and then.  This will be my attempt to chronicle my lowbie PvP adventures. I don’t know what I’m doing; but I’ll try to put into practice those things written by Cynwise and GnomeaguppieGnomeapuppyGnomeaggedon.

Long Live the Fighters! /Dunesque
