Here is Day 3 – My first day of playing WoW.
I remember it just like yesterday. All in a fog, kind of hazy, having gone without any sleep kind of way.
I went out and bought Vanilla WoW the day after Southpark did their spoof of it. I thought it was hilarious!
I remember logging in, and being disappointed that there was no Ranger Character under the human icon. So, I chose a Paladin.
That guy didn’t make it to level 5. I don’t know why, but I just didn’t feel the connection.
Next, I made a warrior. This guy made it to level 10 or so. I remember making it to the old Sentinel Hill in Westfall. But, I kept getting killed by birds and gnolls. Plus, I just didn’t feel the connection to the character that I wanted so, I went to bed and decided to look up character classes the next day.
Within the next 12 hours, I had a Night Elf hunter, named Zwingli. He was so much fun! I didn’t think that this character would actually stick. I took no care to change the original toon’s facial features, hair, etc. Instead, I thought I would only play him for a day or so and then make my “real character.”
Next think I know, he was level 20, and I had made some in-game friends. Before I knew it, my temporary character had become my main.
Even though I loved huntering, I most aptly could be considered an accidental hunter. I made level 60 before Burning Crusade came out, almost exclusively by questing. I played him like an old DnD Ranger; really not knowing what I was doing. But, I loved every minute of it. I love having the pets. I love the synergy found in the class.
You can find my First Zwingli, now named Trellis, collecting dust on Moon Guard.
